Good question! The vast majority of the best TV in the UK is provided by subscription free TV platforms, that is pretty much fact. Platforms such as Freeview, YouView, and Freesat.

I use the “Freetime” service from Freesat, which offers completely subscription free TV, plus catchup players from BBC, ITV, 4OD and Demand 5, plus a YouTube player.  It offers 6 HD channels for free, and hundreds of SD channels.

Freesat’s new TV advert has just been placed on YouTube, presumably for airing during the run-up to Christmas.

I wonder how many people watch mainly free channels on their subscription TV platforms? I bet the majority.

Update:  I just read that Sky’s average annual earnings per customer is £560. Wow. That’s a lot of cash !
